This play is about faith, love and the meaning of life as viewed through the eyes of ‘Spoonface’, an eight year old autistic girl diagnosed with cancer. It is a monologue that is in turn funny, intensely moving, profound and above all uplifting.
Originally written as a play for radio, by Lee Hall (writer of the West End hit Billy Elliott),
Spoonface Steinberg features numerous recordings sung by ‘La Davina’, Maria Callas.
Broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and winning Lee Hall several awards, the audio version sold
35,000 copies on its release.
’… terrific and measured … a powerful performance that is never indulgent, sentimental or exploitative’ – British Theatre Guide
